What constitutes a bad file in the database?

Hiya Folks...

When I create the database on my iRIVER H340, the Rockbox hangs on a specific file, and can't get past it.

I'm investigating what constitutes a bad file, so that I can try and do some sort of scan of my files externally, so I can remove the offending items.

There are two possibilities, as far as I can tell, as to what might make the database proggie hang:

1. Is it a corrupt file? In other words, is it a bad MP3 that causes the hang?

or

2. Is it something corrupt in the tag information? Or something missing in the tag information?

Does anyone have any insight into what the innards of the database program looks for in order to initialise the database?

Generally the file has metadata that crashes the rockbox metadata reader, this is a bug in the metadata reader as it shouldn't crash even if the metadata is corrupt. Please post a sample file so that a developer can take a look, and this is more suited for the tracker anyway, so open a new task and post a sample song there.

Thanks NLS. Will do. It's just that I have no idea which of the 4000 songs I've got actually HAS bad metadata! Heheehhe! Chicken. Egg.

I'm trying some stuff right now, using an MP3 scanner to see if I can come up with anything.

Well, you can figure out which file it is with about a 12 step binary search (roughly), if you can't come up with a better way.
