Questions with Rockbox on Ipod Video

(1/2) > >>

MVP211355:
So i have had rockbox for a while on my ipod but i dont use it as much because of two reasons

one is that i can't view all of my songs together like i can with the original ipod firmware but i can only view them by artist, genre, etc.

and many of the songs come up as untagged or with weird names like UNGM or QUFJ or something like that

i would like to ask if there is any way to view all of the tracks on my ipod like with the originial firmware??

and if there is any way to change the name of the song throught the player or on my computer??

thanks in advance

If they have random file names, its because you don't have them tagged.

Suffering from those itunes woes? those pesky file names, folder structures and file info stored in the itunes DB instead of ID3 tags?
1.First make sure all your music is on your PC,
2.then reformat your iPod through itunes
3.reinstall Rockbox, and copy and paste your music to your iPod.
4.you should have a sane folder structure (same as your PC) and sane filenames (same as your PC). If all your music has proper ID3 tags, then the ones now on your iPod should be Rockbox database ready.

5.Once you're done with that, uninstall itunes from your PC, and never use it again. ;)
(the last step is a joke, if you didn't get it)

There are however times when one might want to use the apple os and boot into it. If you have a DLO delux dock for instance, and simply copied mp3s will not play with apple. I would suggest using the database option and keep the itunes folder structure as it is. I find the database option just fine and your songs etc will appear much the same as they do when booted into the apple os, and if I use my dock to use my ipod through my home theater I use the apple os and all is golden. reboot my ipod and back to rockbox for everyday use.  8-)

If you have a DLO delux dock, and have experimented with it and Rockbox, please either fill out details on http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IpodAccessories, or PM me all relevant info so I can do the same.
