what happened?..

after downloading some pictures from my computer, i click the icon to safely remove my ipod from my computer, then it prompted that i should try to remove the hardware later because some program or something is being used?.. but i'm done doing anything on my computer and iwas supposed to shut it down?.. after 30minutes i tried it again.. and gave me the same response.. i was forced to unplugged my ipod from the computer!.. now everytime i plug my ipod on the computer the screen on my ipod turned grey!.. what happened?

Some process (explorer window, command prompt, etc.) still had a file or directory open on the player.  There are various utilities which will show you what processes have what files open.

thank you so much!.. and i'm very sorry for the inconvinience i have caused all of you... i'm just so excited about this new software! ;)

after several trial.. i found out that when i use the original apple firmware.. i can easily and safely remove hardware... now on rockbox mode.. when i plug my player on the usb port.. a usb plug icon will show on the screen of my player for a few second and slowly the screen turns to grey!.. but i am able to access my player on the explorer as D:, what happened to icon that flashes "do not disconnect" and "ok to remove"?, though,now i can safely remove it on the computer but i have to wait for a few minutes!, if i reload/run/install rockbox firmware again.. will i loose all my files?... thanks in advance
