Playing a single file on repeat with no gaps

Josh3:
Hi,

Will Rockbox allow me to play a single file on repeat with no gaps?

I bought a 2nd generation iPod nano last week because it is advertised as supporting gapless playback. Unfortunately, unlike foobar2000, iTunes 7, etc., the iPod nano can't play a single file on repeat with no gaps.

If Rockbox will do what I need, I'll order a 1st generation iPod nano immediately.

Thanks for your time.

Regards,
Josh

foobar2000 is fully gapless.  If you hear a gap, the gap is encoded in your file and has nothing to do with your playback software.

Yes, that's correct. I apologize for not emphasizing in my post that the 2nd generation iPod nano, which can't play a single file on repeat with no gaps, is unlike foobar2000 and iTunes 7.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

But yes, if it plays correctly in foobar, it should play fine in rockbox.  Assuming you aren't using any of the skip silence/gap killer dsps anyway.

However, I'm a little surprised it plays correctly in foobar.  What is the file of?  Typically songs do not end and begin with the exact same samples, so theres a click when you try this.

Excellent. It definitely plays correctly in foobar2000, and I'm not using any DSPs at all.

I'm actually listening to brown noise and not a song. As crazy as it sounds, I find that listening to brown noise in noisy environments (e.g., my college's library with all the chatty students :() helps me concentrate on studying better than listening to music.

Thanks for the prompt responses, saratoga. I really appreciate your help.
