iPod Photo Bootup Problem
(1/1)
mrmeowmix2300:
The problem is that when using a new build of rockbox on an ipod photo it freezes at the logo screen.
I know that it has been said that iPod Photos have some kind of scaling problem. I have heard that older builds work with no trouble. When I try to use an older build it boots fine (mostly) but when any module is clicked it says "Incompatible Model". I heard that the 01/12/07 build works but I cant seem to find it. If anyone knows how to get rockbox to work on an ipod photo please tell me. BTW: I have heard of the custom rockbox build for photos but havent tried it yet. Thanks to anyone who can help. ;D

"Incompatible Version" indicates that you didn't extract the contents of the zip file properly. Check if you have a rockbox.ipod file in the root (and remove it if it's present) and make sure you overwrote all contents of the .rockbox folder.
Rockbox freezing sounds pretty much like an outdated bootloader -- you might want to update your bootloader instead of downgrading. Downgrading is never a good solution anyway ...

mrmeowmix2300: Since you seems to be an iPL user as well you have to upgrade to Loader 2 2.5 in order to run the latest versions of rockbox. If you have installed the current version of Loader 2.4 with Installer 2 you can use ipodpatcher to update it. Download the current loader 2 binary from here.
Then run ./ipodpatcher -ab loader.bin
