4G/iPod gets stuck on database update

I have a 4G Color iPod 30GB.  After installing Rockbox for the first time (latest release) and setting up the database.  It seems Rockbox gets locked up.  I left the update running for about 20min and nothing happens.  I can't even go thru the menu system.  Then when I restart my iPod it gets frozen at the Rockbox loading screen.  Im force to re-install Rockbox.

I have about 3,500 songs.  How long does update take to initialize the database??
