i already posted this before concering this issue... and only 1 person responded to me, so i am wondering if its just my sansa player that is screwed up - maybe i have to take it back and get a new one? or maybe i should just uninstall and reinstall rockbox?
what is happening is my sansa will lock up what it does it gets really bright at first and then stops working i have to restart rockbox....but this phenomenon also happens when i boot to the original firmware as well but doesnt lock up only does this for 2 seconds....
i would appreciate it if any rockbox tech support could give me any tips on how to try to resolve this?
X86:
try recovery mode on sansa hold on and then press rec button and connect to the pc,it will enter in recovery mode,if you don't have a mi4 file around download one of this site http://daniel.haxx.se/sansa/mi4.html ,then put the mi4 binary and the bl files in the disk, then disconnect and move the hold switch to off position, then wait to sansa to recover, and then use rb util to reinstall rockbox bootloader and install rockbox,

If it happens when starting both up, if using dual boot, would it have to be a problem with the bootloader? If so, try reinstalling the bootloader.

I have exactly the same problems on my device -
1) "progressive whitening" of the screen during boot to OF that lasts for 2-3 sec. (with the latest bootloader it's not seen because the screen is totally white during booting - maybe developers colored it with white color on purpose so the problem won't be seen ?)
2) lockups ("white screen of death") happening here and there, at unpredictable intervals (from half a minute after reboot and up to one hour and more), especially during active usage of plugins.
3) "screen splits" - for a moment it looks like the screen's picture got scrolled half a screen, then the picture restores to a normal state.
In addition to it I have a "hardware version 1.1-specific" problem described in the following thread:
http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=9282.0
so I guess all the problems above may have the same explanation - incorrect hardware initialization.
If anybody has any idea or tool that will help to diagnose the problems above, I am ready to help by testing the ideas on my device.

I also get all of these on my Sansa. However, except for 2) (which happens very rarely) I don't think they are a big problem. Like you said, the "screen split" lasts only for a few moments and the screen whitening during boot doesn't really bother me (actually it scared me a good bit when I had installed rockbox for the first time and tried the dual-boot feature. I thought that something had gone wrong ;))
