Gigabeat X60 Menu Lockup
emcee303:
Hi there! I'm new to the world of Rockbox, but I am definitely impressed! But I am having a few problems.
I have just installed the latest build (installed it today) and the available bootloader. Everything looks good until around 30 minutes of play back. The MP3 file will stop playing and I can't control the menu and have to turn off / on the battery to get back in. I've noticed that if I browse files straight after a reboot it's all ok, but if I play a track, go back and try to browse files while the file is playing, the menu locks up again, but the audio still plays.
I've tried going through the database it tells me that the database is not ready would I like to initialise now, but every time i try to initalise the database it sits there and says: Building database... 0 found - it will go no further than that.
I've got around 8 500 MP3s (128 and 192Khz) on the player and i've left it alone with the power plugged in for two hours to allow the database to initialise, but it doesn't seem to help. Is there anyone out there that can help me? Now that I've used Rockbox there is no way I can go back to the gigabeat firmware!
thanks
Mike.

Hi again everyone. After further testing this evening it seems that my particular problem arises if I downloadand apply a theme other than the default installed one... has anyone else had this problem?
I've just removed Rockbox and did a clean reinstall of everything and the database has initialised (as before). I've played a few tracks and flicked back and browsed the database and the file system and no problems - but as soon as I apply one of the themes the menu locks up. I try resetting my settings and the new theme still stays active even though it tells me that it's been reset.
Oh, I've also tried installing manually and via the Rockbox Utility.
cheers
Mike.

Seems I spoke too soon. The player played for around 12 songs this morning on the way to work then just stopped and I had to flick the battery... any ideas?
thanks
Mike.

that's very strange. could it be that the X-series has something different from the F-series that caused the problem? i've never even seen anyone in the forums who had an X-series, but rockbox is supposed to work fine on both. and supposedly they share the same hardware, other than screen size and casing.

I've just re-formatted and started from scratch with the new rbutil... same problem. I've tried it with 50 songs and i've tried it with 5000 songs - not too sure where else to look. I've even tried re-encoding the MP3s that I've been testing with.
