new default theme concept.

Well i'm back from my break and straight into uni revision. This projects on hold for now but i'll get back to it.

re transparency: I'll have a go at making all images have a transparent background when possible. The problem here is the progress bar does not use transparency and requires the dithering for the glow effect. It may have to be re done but I'm not sure if it would be worth it... surely anyone customising this theme would use an alternative progress bar.

lights0ut:
First of all, thanks for all the work you've done on this; this theme is very cool. I've been using the gigabeat version a lot as it's the only theme with a fairly large font (making my own soon, by the way) I've also tried the iPod version and I like it a lot too. Overall, the theme is solid, clear, easy to read and use, and looks good to boot.
Good luck with university, can't wait to see the finished work.

About the transparency with the progress bar, I think the goal with the default theme is to make it very easy/appealing, if your goal is to make it so users can switch backdrops to something of their own choosing (which is a great idea for a default theme, I might add) shouldn't it not involve changing the .wps?, some users would find this task (however easy it is) a bit of a hindrance when it comes to customizing the backdrop.

Yotto:
To be honest, I wasn't even thinking of the progress bar and didn't notice the glow effect (though one of the first things I did was make the bar 6 pixels high and solid white to make it more easy to see on my iPod 5G with the backlight off).

Like evilg123, I think a major boon to the default theme would be the ability to just drop a new image in as the background and have all icons not have some of the old background left over.  Now, obviously, if the color is much different than the blue you'll have jaggies so it's not ideal, but as a new user the first thing I did was start playing around with the background image on WPSs I downloaded, and if the default theme had looked good with a new backdrop I'd have been an extremely happy newbie.

Angyman:
So... i posted that already as a kind of impression on how something like this could work... And i think for the default theme this could be a very user-friendly solution... (You need to press download your own)

Thanks for everyone's comments on this theme. Once I get back to working on it methinks I'll revise the progress bar and make it simpler. The Icons will definitely have jaggies on other non blue backdrops. This is unavoidable without sacrificing a smooth look on the standard backdrop. It could encourage customisers to edit/make icons  ;).

@ Angryman: That system looks really great but I cant see it as an option for a default theme since obviously a default has to come pre installed with every build.
