I don't think that the total track time should be placed after the Album name,
because...
1). it appears to be a part of the Album name, rendering the album name unclear.
2). keeping all the track times, elapsed and remaining below the progress bar is nice, efficient, and user friendly.
3). If elapsed time and remaining time is displayed then there is no need to display the total time after the albums name.

otherwise its nice, simple, uncluttered, and easy to read the important info at a glance.

My two cents worth...

Yes I like this WPS on my H140 too - just one little niggle from the "units police", can you replace 'db' with the correct abbreviation 'dB'? I think that goes for all the other versions of this WPS too...

Edit: One thing regarding the RWPS which I would prefer to be changed is to have the Track Name [length] on the first line on its own and have the Artist : Album on the second line (or better still have Artist/Album alternating) rather than have things the way you have them now. What do you think?

I didn't know i was abbreviating it wrong hehe. I'll change that in the final version. Good idea with the rwps. Should probably have mentioned that the rwps itself is not very complete. I'll certainly have a look at redoing it how you have described as that makes more sense.

At the moment total track time is placed next to the track name on the main screen and the rwps needs re-doing. I'll certainly see about removing this on players where I have both current and remaining time.

Thanks for the feedback  :)

One question though. I'm planning to re-do the backdrop on the h100 version because i found the black text hard to read on the light grey (it looks alot different to the sim screenshots). Has anybody else had the same experience?

Yes -- the h100 lcd is quite different from the sim (and on my player, the greyscales differ slightly depending on the position on the lcd)

Ah, just had a look at that and I'll stick an extra line or two on. Due to the international nature of rockbox I have removed 'charging...' and replaced it with 'AC', signifying the AC adaptor is plugged in. Any thoughts on this. If AC is not appropriate then i may have to use an icon of a plug and wire, but I'm trying to avoid icons...

...and the background will be re-done.

I just tested your theme on my gigabeat and I have one more remark : the very thin progressbar makes cuesheet markers a bit hard to see. This made me have a look at the code and I noticed the syntax you used in the progressbar tag is wrong. You shouldn't be putting the bitmap filename in the %pb tag. The right syntax is :
Code: [Select]
%pb|height|leftpos|rightpos|toppos|
Once I replaced the "pb.bmp" by "7", the cuesheet markers were easier to see (before that, the height would default to 1), but not exactly nice to see on the progressbar.

testing the gigabeat version here. it looks rather graceful.

few remarks:
like NicolasP already pointed out, the progress bar is very thin and even with the corrected syntax cuesheet markers are very hard to see.

while nimbus19 looks good in the WPS, it always seemed too big for me in the file browser, resulting in a lot of scrolling of folders names etc.

there're no play/pause/fast forward/rewind icons which i find to be very useful, especially the play/pause ones.

After the bugs are worked out, I say let's go for it. Denny has made a theme that works on all platforms, simple and effective. I think it will solve the first five minutes problem where new users become frustrated by the screen dimming out and an unfriendly default theme.

I can see new users loading Rockbox, seeing this theme and thinking, "This is something I can deal with."

Folks can go to the galleries later on if they want other features.

Thanks for trying it out. I will increase the size of the progress bar on the gigabeat, and perhaps the ipod 5g. I'll also look at the syntax. Play, pause fast forward and rewind buttons will not be added for reasons discussed in the sticky.

@ Gnostic, looking at it, i seem to have somehow uploaded the origional again :(. I'll get that changed.

*edit* The correct version is now available for the h100's.

I agree with the fact that having all the playback status icons displayed with only one being highlighted is a complete waste of screen space, but having one that changes to reflect the current status is a requirement to me. It just seems odd to me that the only difference between playback and pause is the elapsed time not changing.

I could include a paused icon, do you think a play icon would be necessary?. Time for this project is running gout this week. I'm away from tomorrow so I'll hopefully start working on it again when i get back.

I like the way it's done in iCatcher : one icon that changes according to the status. That way the WPS reacts nicely to keypresses.

hmm, I'll see about fitting play status into the hold conditional as that's the only place I can think of putting it.

BTW, How are cue sheet markers displayed on the progress bar?

Hmm, I included nimbus-10 instead of -11. Fixed now:

Thanks for reporting that.
