Saving playlists to the root directory

Is there a reason that playlists are saved, by default, to the root directory and not to the /Playlists directory? It seems like the integration of the playlist catalog would be somewhat smoother if default saving and default loading were in the same place...

Creation by what means?

Most playlist creation methods shouldn't add that playlist into the catalog folder automatically, because not everyone uses it. I think the only method that should put it there is if you choose to make a new playlist in the catalog options.

Choosing "Save the current playlist" from the playlist menu (Context Menu->Playlist->Save current playlist).

Now that you mention it, though, I see that I can do Context Menu->Playlist Catalog->Add to new Playlist.
