Ok so I downloaded Rockbox and installed it and then unplugged my ipod and when it boot it up it says:

Rockbox boot loader
version: 1.0
IPOD version: 0xFFFFFFFF
TOSHIBA MK30008GAL
Partition 1 : 0x0B 28521 MB
Loading Rockbox...
Error!
Can't load rockbox.ipod:
File not found
Press MENU+SELECT to reboot
then SELECT+PLAY for disk mode

now thw last two lines that say to reboot and to go to disk mode don't even work.  I don't know what to do.  Please help.

saratoga:
That message means you installed the bootloader, but not rockbox.  You need to follow the directions to reboot into disk mode.  Yes they will work, try again.  Once you get it into disk mode, follow the instructions in the manual, and this time install rockbox before rebooting the ipod.

Please note, a *quick* press of these button combinations doesn't work - you need to hold those keys down until each one works. MENU+SELECT can take anywhere up to thirty seconds for the iPod to register (usually less than ten though). As soon as the iPod resets, then again you have to *hold* SELECT+PLAY until the iPod is in disk mode.

hi.

i'm having the same problem with my 30GB. except when i reboot i only get an Apple logo and it stays that way.

i managed to get into disk mode and reinstalled everything but still the same problem. but in my root of my player's drive (F:/) i only see a "rockbox" folder, as apposed to ".rockbox" as described in the manual.

i put my 80G back into the box and bought this 30GB so i can load rockbox. please help. pleaseeeeeeeeee.......

Llorean:
If you see a "rockbox" folder rather than a ".rockbox" folder, then you've not installed it properly. Inside the folder is probably the ".rockbox" folder. Your Zip program is most likely not configured properly, many of them stupidly create a folder with the same name as the zip file, and put its contents in that, if you give the wrong command.
