Long Filenames
MrSomeone:
I'm having a problem with rockbox on a Gigabeat F40. When I attempt to load any music files (or any files for that matter) onto the device in explorer, I get an error saying "The destination does not support long file names. Please enter a name for this file."
The same thing happened when I tried to copy over the .rockbox folder, but putting the zip on the device and then extracting directly into the same folder corrected the issue.
Although this isn't strictly a rockbox error, I was wondering if anyone else has come across this error, and more importantly, a solution?
Thanks.

Didn't you even try google before asking?

I don't see how that knowledge base article has anything to do with this, as I'm not on Windows 95, nor have I just formatted the device using fdisk, but thanks for your response.

Since you don't give us much information (OS, what you've done before seeing the symptom, etc.), any suggestion will be a pure guess.
MrSomeone:
I'm on XP Home. I just got the player this morning, first thing I did was go to put rockbox on it, which was when I first encountered the error, but avoided it, as I said previously, by extracting the zip archive from the device itself, which for some reason allowed me to use long filenames. After seeing that it wouldn't let me copy files with long filenames I tried a quick format (using the program on the CD that was bundled with the device) which didn't help. I'm assuming that this is just an error with explorer, and I'm about to try and find an alternative alternative file manager.
