m3u playlist support

Hello all!

As far as I understood, all the players, which support m3u playlists, have all the same limitation: there is a dedicated PLAYLIST folder. The playlist files are not shown in the file tree and cannot be placed anywhere. And, there is no chance to create subfolders within the PLAYLIST folder. Am I right?

Is the same limitation with Rockbox? Thanks in advance.

LinusN:
You can have as many playlists you want, anywhere you want. They are like any other file in the browser.

It's just with Rockbox, isn't it? Sounds, like Rockbox is sheer madness!!

Why do the oem's produce such shit of firmware for such expensive devices...

Another question: does Rockbox affect the guarantee! I've read, there's always a simple way back to the original firmware. Any risk? Any comment about this?

Thank you!

nobby:
short answer: yes, it invalidates the warranty

accurate answer: maybe. iriver are known not to check units, but you could get unlucky. Archos have refused to repair under warranty rockbox'ed units before.

Thank you, guys!

I forgot to mention, that Iriver H140 is my current favorite, due to the 20 GB HD limit with the Archos players. Now, I'm in the wrong forum...

The only feature, I wanted to use, is playing MP3's by using playlists, which are created with WinAmp on the PC. Do you recommend to use the current version of Rockbox for Iriver for the daily usage?
