86x w/Linux reading iPod Rockbox

(1/1)

roscoetuff:
Rockbox works on the iPod fine. Now I'm trying to figure out how to find the doggone iPod on the machine. Technically, this means how to mount it, right? I'm reasonably new to Linux, using Mepis 6.5 (Ubuntu) and looking for some ideas. Given that the machine routinely and automatically recognized the iPod when the firmware was iTunes - else I would not have been able to load Rockbox.... my guess is that Rockbox and the recognition of the iPod as a hard drive is the issue. Yet I do not at this point in my Linux/Rockbox learning curve understand how to solve this. I'm sure it's simple. Any ideas? Thanks!

Do a hard reboot (press [menu] + [select] for ~6 secs) then immediatly switch on [hold] when you see the apple logo: then it should boot into the original firmware -> you can mount it. But it should also go into discmode when you plug it into your computer all by itself !?!
