Drag and Drop Playlist in Windows Explorer?
(1/1)

(I put this in the wrong forum the first time I posted this....I'm a newbie, sorry! Â ;D)
I read the wiki and there are 4 methods of playlists listed. I was wondering if I could drag and drop songs into a folder to create playlists. I prefer it this way, doing it on the player seems a bit tedious.
Llorean:
You can play songs in a folder without creating a playlist, or just insert the folder into a playlist as one step (Hold down select on the folder, choose Playlist, then Insert).

Awesome. This is my first day owning a Rockboxed MP3 player...I don't think I'll ever go back to any stock firmware!

Llorean....what happens if you drag and drop an .m3u playlist file from Windows but you don't already have the actual songs in your player? Will Rockbox automatically transfer the songs from whatever directory folder they're contained in from Windows and then autogenerate the m3u file all on the fly? Or do you need to have the songs literally already in the player for Rockbox to generate the m3u list?

No. Rockbox has nothing to do with the file transfer itself (except that it enables USB mode of the player), so it's not possible to autogenerate a playlist or automatically transfer files.
You can put playlists on the player as long as the paths are absolute to the player, i.e. the folder structure on your player needs to match the structure you used when generating the playlist.
