Wow... very nice work you did, yapper!

This'll look great on the greyscale targets!

A first attempt at a port for the 1G2G iPod (160x128 mono). Feel free to offer suggestions to improve it (I'm not an artist) :)

Lookin' good.  The icon set should be inverted to match the white background colour but aside from that, wicked bad.

I presume that it centers the text when there's no album art?

Hello, this my first post on the board, but I have been a viewer for about a year.

I have been working on a Gigabeat port of this WPS. Tell me what you think.  ???

you've changed "now playing" font. I think you should stick to the original one to improve uniformity.

Having the progress bar for the current song after the "Next Song" header strikes me as a bit disorienting... Though I don't have any suggestions on how to move things around to make it more logical, and other than that it looks good to me.  Nice to see people jumping in!

Thanks for comments!

I currently don't have anyway to edit psd files so I just used some simple MS paint skills to make the port.
What is the name of the font in the original wps, maybe I can fix it in some way.

Also, I know that layout is kinda weird, but it really didn't look right any other way.

You can download a 30 day trial version of Photoshop CS3 from adobe.com - which I recommend you to use, since the writing has a highlight applied to it.
The font is Arial Black.

Photoshop makes it much easier to work with the faded background too...

As for the Next Song thing I see two possible solutions:

1) Get rid of the yellow "Next Song" bar and replace it with a simple "Next Song: blah blah by the blah blahs" text line like the other ones (you could compensate for the extra space with larger album art or a larger font size if it's needed), or

2) Switch the current song progress bar & song times with the next song bar & info.

Or leave it, maybe I'm the only one who thinks it's doesn't make sense...

Hey, I'm almost done with the nano version, in case someone wants to steal my port when I've done about 80% of it. Here's a preview and mosy of it works, I just need to open up the background in photoshop and move the progress bar a few pixels up. Also, what's with the repeat icons? They all have different names, but how are we to know the difference between each, there's practically none... Please leave feedback, as I can still make lots of changes and then release it.

P.S. Do I get my name in the credits for doing this? Thanks

Note: I converted this screendump from a .bmp to a .jpg and that's why its a bit blurry, but it's not like that at all on the actual thing.

not too bad, but I think it needs cleaner graphics. This isn't an easy port at all.

There's two options:
a) ditch the highlighting effects and go for a simple black and white. Basically a black and white version of Yohann Miquitta's original Cabbie theme.
b) make full use of the players grayscale capabilitys and design completely new icons and bars using the basic shapes of Cabbie 2.0. Take a look at how other people have achieved great results at that task. Chris Berkeley's themes are a good example, but there's many more to find at the wps gallery.

You could try the GIMP. It's free (as in freedom), and it's considered a pretty viable alternative to Photoshop.

you're right. they're too small to read. They're hard to read on a h300, but on a nano it's impossible.. I think we need a new icon there...

apart from that it's looking great so far. you may nudge the next song bar a tiny bit up as well..

Another thing that I think you should do is rename the icons file and rename it in the .cfg file because it may conflict with existing tango iconsets as this one was slightly modified, correct?

From a quick glance it looks like the Rockbox logo in the bottom left could be lowered a bit to line up with the icons.  Also, maybe add a "Next Song: " before the next song tag to be more consistent with the others and to explain what it is?  And I gotta ask:  It centers when there's no album art, right?

Do you mean the Now Playing bar?  I don't see no Next Song bar on his...

probably. but then again the original tango icons shouldn't be available on this site for download, so maybe we should replace them completely.
