So if this actually flies and the theme gets adapted to all 11 (?) screen sizes, does a new splash screen get designed as well?  The blue looks pretty odd with the current black&yellow colour scheme.  I'd be content with a simple switch of the background colour from blue to black and whatever little changes that implies.

Actually, I think that the current boot logo matches the theme quite well and that we should only change the current boot logo if necessary because I actually like it quite a bit.

Also, I've been trying to port the theme to the nano. Everything's fine, but my question is this: Can I change the layout a bit? Because with helvR10 font (the only one that "flows"), everything won't fit in. Also, can I move around some stuff? I'm also planning on using alternating sublines, is this acceptable?

Thanks

:) Funny, I read this at work and the image wasn't displayed so I had no idea what you were talking about.  It's purty.  1 vote.

For sure, the logo's fine, but the background colour is off.  That's all I'm sayin'.

I'd go with white over black. I think a black background would look bad on the mono targets, while white would present a more consistent visual aesthetic between targets, even if the backdrop is black on the color targets once you get past the splash.

Also, remember that the version number needs to be visible in the splash.

Talking of mono targets, apparently the only way to get the Cabbie "white text on a black background" look is to use the LCD invert feature, but unfortunately that messes up album art.

Does anyone have a simple/feasible fix?

On a mono target you should use black text on white background. It's much harder to read without using the backlight otherwise.

Imho consistency between targets isn't as important as a consistent look and feel of the different screens.
gradient backdrop -> gradient splash
white backdrop -> white splash  would be my preference

How is the version number diesplayed? can the color be changed to white? can it still be displayed when a bmp covers the entire screen?

Shabamz.  Ported for the c200.

There's no Rockbox gallery for the c200 yet so I've got nowhere to put the files.  Maybe someone with super-powers could create one?

Update:  Links to the theme (http://www.sendspace.com/file/lbhfuo) and Photoshop graphics (http://www.sendspace.com/file/9mrb0d).

I asked around in IRC if I should create such a page a while ago. The answer was that this WPS gallery would soon be replaced be a new official version of "themes.rockbox.org" and this one would already be set up for the c200...

About your version itself - I think it could use a smaller font because the pixels on that display aren't very small and it really could have one or two more lines especially in the browser - but I also know that there aren't many choices if you want a 10 pixels tall font for example...

Alrighty... Seems like you can't even upload to themes.rockbox.org right now because of server problems... Any suggestions on where I throw it in the meantime?

I was just rolling with what had already been started (I don't own one of these units so I can't even say how it looks for real).  Feel free to mess with it once it's given a home.  (Update:  put links to the theme and graphics in my previous post).

wow, that display is tiny  :o
how does it look with album art ?:D

a smaller font might indeed work better on such a tiny display..

i doubt album art would be something you'd worry about if you are limited to such a small space

A first attempt at a port for the 1G2G iPod (160x128 mono). Feel free to offer suggestions to improve it (I'm not an artist) :)
