Also with that layout, the only option when there's no Album Art is a large chunk of empty space.
My suggestion would be to have the "Now Playing" image be an actual image, rather than part of the background, and use an album art conditional so that you can use an alternate, full width image when there's no Album Art present, as well as doing the same for the rest of the information.
As it is now, it looks like there's a very small WPS crunched beside the Album Art, while 2/3 of the screen is full of "Extraneous" information, things that might be nice to have but aren't the main purpose of the screen (information about the currently playing song).
I do feel very, VERY strongly that whatever WPS is chosen should not only work when AA isn't present, but shouldn't have a hole in it where the AA belongs. It shouldn't be apparent that something is missing just because the user doesn't have, or hasn't yet prepared, their album art.

Many good points pixelma, but for me the cover is still an essential part of the album. different philosophy I guess.
actually there is more information about the current track if you consider the progress bar and the cover - which makes it more cluttered. I could fill the empty spaces with more information or align the next track info left and fill the space on the right with larger icons, but I don't think it would look good.
Another problem I didn't consider when designing the backdrop was that I can't place the text as simple as the pictures. That's why the margins on the upper part are a bit off.
Llorean, I will try to make a more basic version based on your suggestions.

Not necessarily more basic. It just should look complete with or without album art rather than clearly being an album art WPS with art missing when it's not present.

Other than the logo, much better in my humble opinion. :)
I'm fond of that logo, but we really can't use it at this time.
