To tell you the truth, I originally liked this idea, but I changed my mind.

The splashscreen of rockbox should stay that way to leave an old rockbox "signature" since now we have viewports for the wps and menu and a default theme. This makes rockbox completely user customizable.

Leave some of the old rockbox "flavor" behind! Like the signature blue background shade!

Source would be rockbox.org, license could be public domain, and the author is whoever took that screen shot (wiki says Apoo Maha).  Though I'm not sure if any of that matters, its a screen shot of a free software program, anyone can make an identical picture of it and we reserve no license or anything on the image.

If you have a color player, your background on that screen is blue. You're more than welcome to check it in the source. It's a very light blue, but it's blue.

Weird. It looks like a white/very very very light grey to me. I'll take your word for it, though, since there's no way mine is randomly displaying a different color than everyone else.

Anyhoo. I would personally still vote for changing that color as default to black, but obviously it's not a huge deal. Regarding crzyboyster's post, I'd agree with keeping the "flavor" of rockbox, but I think a background color doesn't really lend itself to said flavor. I think the more important thing is to keep the logo the same, which is why in my mockup I used the same logo (no, not just because I can't draw very well  ). I think changing the background color to black just looks classy, while keeping the same feel with the classic logo (god, I really like the logo).

So yes. That's where I'm coming from.

I think the blue is the same shade that is used on this very site.

Well because the screens are 16-bit, and because some of them have adjustable contrast, it can end up looking quite different from how the shade should actually look.

I personally don't like the image because the text looks too small and "condensed" (in my opinion).

But the image is what it actually looks like. Are you trying to start the debate up again, under new pretexts?

Are you referring to the text in the uploaded image? I can change it to a different image if you think it would be a better representation of the WPS, but it seems perfectly fine to me (although that picture is using the old band-song-album order, not the current song-band-album order that was decided on).

I'll think of something to write regarding the theme in the article when I have another chance. Should be within the week. What was the date this was confirmed as the default, again?

DancemasterGlenn: 2008-02-23 is when the new default theme was made the default, it's been in SVN for a few weeks or a month now, I think.

Llorean: What debate are we talking about? I like all the helvR fonts and think that they fit the cabbiev2 theme perfectly. What my problem was was that the uploaded image looks too small (not properly scaled) and doesn't look as clean as I would like it to look (talking about the screenshot, here!) and the text on the screen looks "faded". Maybe the screenshot should be of the h300 version or that table extended.

I modded the wikipedia page, but I really don't like it. Maybe the screenshot should be of the h300 version?
