pixelma: The vol08 that is not completely filled has a '!' on it (intended to indicate when the volume is set above 0dB). Colour versions used a red segment to the right, but the greyscale used the '!' and shaded the last segment differently.

Ok, do I understand correctly that the reference to a vol09 icon in the 138x110x2.wps is wrong then?

I'm not sure about that one - but the 160*128*2 only went up to vol08
Edit: looking at the mini bitmaps, it appears to me that it too is using vol08 as the last one, so I think the reference to vol09 in the mini .wps can be removed. (Yes I think you are right, pixelma)

pixelma: Yes, I would think so. And for the sake of uniformity, these filenames should be renamed:
background-128x96x2.bmp to wpsbackdrop-128x96x2.bmp
vol00-160x128x2.bmp to vol0-160x128x2.bmp and so on
I just noticed that the archos versions weren't renamed prior to committing...
