ONGOING DEFAULT THEME CONTEST!!!

crzyboyster:
Not hard at all, I would say. yapper, what do you think of this, are you okay with it? We should commit the new version of this and the sansa version together.

yapper:
@crzyboyster: I've got no problems with there being two versions, but there are a couple of problems:
1. I've found that the mix12 font doesn't match either helvR10 or helvR12 in height (I was under the impression that it contained helv12 from lazka's post way back in this thread, so I was always thinking of that as a fallback option, but never tested it until now :(). I'm playing with various fonts at the moment, and the best match I've found so far is nimbus-14 (or Sazanami-Mincho-Regular-14)
2. Unicode is too big, so the second version would have to use mix12.

@saratoga: I do tend to agree with the idea of having the users who need the extra charactersets download an extra font pack.

crzyboyster:
yapper: The theme will have to be modified (like the images and code) because nimbus fonts are simply not an option. (Let's not get started on the font debate again). We will have to make the two versions use helvR10 and unifont. It should look fine and I will do the job myself if you want.

It actually *needs* to be the same font height as the H300/Ipod Color and X5 version use currently - otherwise there would be (or is?) a problem with the remote WPSs. I haven't checked the final versions though...

Edit: Font size is the line height so to speak but the font could have characters that just look smaller or bigger and have a different amount of spacing. It's sometimes easier to count how many lines fit on the screen to find that out though.

yapper:
pixelma: the mix12 font appears to be similar to HelvR12 in terms of the actual character height, but the line spacing is different. I only did the main WPS (my target doesn't have a remote) so don't know if there is (or will be) a problem with remote WPS.

crzyboyster: I don't mind at all if you want to do a redesign using 'proper' fonts. You've done a great job on the others :)
