It was not, since I didn't know what you actually changed and I didn't want to compare 300 different files to figure it out.  It also didn't help that you modified the non SVN compatible version of the theme, so I couldn't use a SVN's diff to check what was new.

yapper:

All the icons are included, it just looks like the build script isn't using the right ones for your target.  I think I'm going to change the script so that all entries in WPSLIST specify exactly which target they refer to.  That should resolve the ambiguity here.

I have a question:
Will the volume meter be changed so that, like the default theme, it changes to show the decibels? Because I really think that gives people a LOT more control over volume than just five slots on an icon.

no way.
most themes have 9 volume icons btw...

It also doesn't give you any more control over the volume - just finer-grained visual feedback. Actual ability to change it to whatever volume you want is entirely unaffected. Most people probably don't know how the volume system works anyway, and the idea of the volume being measured as a negative number is bound to confuse people.

If this is a default theme for the masses, the graphical volume icon is much more appropriate.

Oh and by the way, it is an utterly awesome theme. I can't wait until trunk has some sort of multifont-like thing, because I think that's the only way you could make this better right now.

Many consumer electronics, especially the more expensive stuff, may measure volume in negative dB. I think it's not so confusing to expose the user to it now. It's a default theme for the masses that use Rockbox. This isn't "everyone mainstream" as they're unlikely to install alternative firmware on their player anyway. We should be safe in assuming people installing Rockbox have some clue.

I really don't like people using "for the masses" as a defense for "dumbing it down." "Graphical volume looks better" is fine, but "People are stupid, don't confuse them" is insulting to our user base even if you wrap it in kinder words. If they can read the manual and install Rockbox, they can figure out our numerical volume, I should imagine.

Actually EVERYTHING in my room uses the negative db effect. My surround sound  system, my other receiver, even my cd deck in my car. Rockbox was the first thing that exposed me to this and then i had gotten my other things so now im quite used to it.

My consumer electronics all use different kinds of positive value scales or symbols while all the prosumer and professional audio gear I have uses a dB scale with 0 being maximum (and everything above headroom).

using numeric indicators would have made it nearly impossible to port this theme to all targets at this point, for they need to be on a text line. The indicator should be in line with the icons, so icon placement would have been comprimised, icons would have to be scaled to a different (smaller) size.
Apart from this there are aesthetic issues. I wanted every icon and indicator to feature the same look and feel.

Isn't there a way to use viewports to align the text correctly?

Well, making the volume indicator go by decibels is going to be hard to fix now as the theme is done and it would be hard to go over the whole theme and fix that and the theme would lose much of its looks, right?

I'll post a fix on the e200 port on flyspray soon and I'm working on a nano fix that makes the icons bigger and the rockbox logo smaller.

Frankly, don't say things are out of the question. You don't really have the right to say "Nobody else can change or modify this theme."

is there a way to display numeric indicators while adjusting the volume and graphics when not?

crz, I think the nano port is looking pretty good as it is now. is there anything wrong with the their current size? too hard to read? messing with the icon size means messing with the proportions and aesthetics of the wps. I don't think it will get any better than it is now.

I think so; that is what the current default theme does.

The current default theme can do it because it simply uses the standard statusbar which is set up like this, I don't think that currently there is a way to replicate this feature with plain wps syntax.

I guess Rockbox's masses are considerably less ignorant than the ordinary masses. Sorry, I should have thought of that.

I've been busy lately so I haven't put up the newer e200 version (will do today). I wanted to ask why this theme is using this album art line:

Quote
%Cl|9|16|s65|s65|

When it could (and maybe should) be using this:

Quote
%Cl|9|16|c65|c65|

What does the "s" mean anyways? I looked it up on the wiki and it didn't have any value? Maybe it would be a better idea to allow smaller album art images to be used but centered with this code?

I wanted to update the nano version because I thought that the icons were just too small, in particular the battery and volume icons are tiny...

But besides that, all the ports seem fine.

EDIT: Another question. ZincAlloy: Exactly what files were changed in the latest version of the e200 theme? I've got the progressbar, wps background and wps file down, what else was changed?
