I'm happy leaving the icons as is, and I have no strong opinion on the greyscale bar.
Here's a crude side-by-side comparison of Unifont, DejaVuSans and HelvR10 on the greyscale wps. I think that even dropping the "Next Song" text, there will be too much scrolling going on due to the limited width with Unifont.

well, we don't make the unifont versions for aesthetic reasons, so scrolling would be ok.
you're lucky - the text lines line up with spaces between the graphics nearly perfectly. Reduce the next song info to one line or drop it completely and place the playback progress line correctly and you're done.

So are we still using the helvR font or the new DejaVu font?

Do we need Unicode if Lazka's work on extending Helv and/or DejaVuSans is successful?
Support-wise, it would be a lot nicer to have a single font that worked across all/many languages.
