Llorean has spoken! Let's get started, folks! I might do the iPod Video version, as well.

I have finished the Gigabeat port for now. I still plan on adding more info to the wps when no album art is displayed, but I am satisfied with how it came out. I am glad I finally stepped up to help out. ;D

I have posted it to the wps gallery here: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsGigabeatF#Cabbie_2_0

P.S. I'm still open to suggestions for changing anything else around, i.e. the status icons?

kperri, I've tried out your Gigabeat version of this (fantastic looking) wps and had a couple of issues:

1) The bitmap folder isn't named correctly, it needs to be identical to the wps filename, so I had to change this manually.
2) The album art seemed to be a few pixels too far down, so that it cut off the Artistname line, I changed this to: "%Cl|45|31|sc150|sc150|" and that seemed better.

Thanks for the port though (didn't want to seem ungrateful).

marcguay and kperri, I think the next song info looks better when it's centered with no album art displayed.
Kperri, your now playing bar looks blurry.

Maybe a wiki page could be made to provide an overview of the different versions and the targets that are still in need of a port?

kperri: The Gigabeat version when there is album art looks a bit too cluttered to me, especially the next song info. I think maybe it would be better to lose the codec information line and maybe make the album art a bit smaller to give it a little more air. Also the "now playing" bar looks blurred, did you upscale a smaller version?

I mucked around with the e200 port a bit. Here's what I came up with:

Smaller album art. 110x110 -- I thought the progressbar and "status bar" were a little bit to close to each other, especially without AA. Don't know if there exist some kind of standard size for AA...

Centered 'Next' bar. Next track info alternating between artist and track.

Twice as many volume levels. Also a new red indicator for volume over 0.

Slightly larger Rockbox logo. -- Just because...

***Edit***
Corrected typo in the theme config.

Thanks for the files. I'll take your ideas and comments in consideration for my next update! It might take a while though, I have exams this week  :-\, so whenever I have free time.

I didn't do that, someone changed my stuff up (and made the album art smaller as well).  I think it looks worse now, this is my first experience with the "joy" of open-source.

---

Also, for everyone contributing, I think we should agree on some standards for asthetics and information; the themes are starting to vary quite a bit based on what seems like different individuals' personal taste.

Originally it was:

Artist
Title
Album

Next:
Title

Progress Bar
Times

...and now we have people throwing in track numbers and file types and all kinds of stuff that diverges from the original concept (and tends to clutter up the look of it).  Even something like alternating sublines should be agreed upon so that they all fit the same mold.  Remember that you're not making these themes for yourself, you're making them for the Rockbox default.

I take blame/responsibility for cleaning up the code for Marc Guay's port to the X5 and H10 20GB, however the only changes to his work that I made were removing the status icons from the backdrop and fixing the positioning of the icons in the WPS code so they were located on the screen, as well as adjusting the margin for the next track info when art was displayed since IMO it seemed a bit odd to have it out of line with the current track's info.  Everything else is exactly as Marc had written it.  Also, the album art I have is 50x50 pixels but the code still looks for art at 56x56 pixels first, I was just lazy and left it to center my already existing cover.bmp. I included the note so people knew that the code looks for 56x56 art and that mine was smaller.

I think that's a good idea, it would help to see them all next to each other.

@karashata:  Sorry about the misunderstanding there, and thanks for fixing my mess up with leaving the icons on the backdrop and forgetting to change the second margin.

Here are some updated screen shots for the Gigabeat port, before I upload them to the gallery. Anything else that should be changed, tell me now and I will make the fix.

I shrunk the Album Art to 140x140 and removed file info while the Album Art was displayed as suggested. The next song info is center, but still alternating while AA is displayed, but when it is not, it is moved above the progress bar and Artist and Title are on separate lines.

I also agree that there should be some sort of guidelines for the theme, but I hate to see wasted space in some of the ports with larger screen sizes, i.e. Gigabeat. That's why I add some file info, to fill in space, but still have enough breathing room.

@ Marc: No problem at all!  Feel free to update the images if you prefer to have something with the proper 56x56 art being displayed (and don't forget to remove my note about being lazy if ya do!)

Anybody that is registered to the wiki and has write privileges can create a wiki page. You just have to come up with a name.  DefaultWPS sound good enough?
