No way! I say let's wait as we have waited long enough and a month or two won't make a lot of difference, would it? Besides that, I happen to dislike the iCatcher theme on my nano.

I'm almost done with my Gigabeat port, but I don't know what to do with all of the space left if there is no Album Art. Any suggestions?  ??? Anyways here is the finished screen shot showing with Album Art. By the way the Album Art can be 150x150 or smaller, and the next song is an alternating subline with Artist and Title.

I agree that iCatcher isn't a candidate (IMHO).

It's taken from April 20 2007 until now for a snowball effect to start. I say we wait it out a week or so to see who else contributes to the Cabbie 2.0 porting. It would be nice to see one of the families (iPod/Sansa/Gigabeat, etc) completely covered.

Then, if needed, a few diplomatically worded posts might provoke some Cabbie 2.0 porting effort for the targets not currently covered ("come on you XXX losers, all the Cabbie 2.0 ports for YYY have been completed ")   ;)

More seriously, I don't think it's necessary for a particular port to be 'perfect'. Once it gets imported into SVN, users can improve the port, much the same as other features are tweaked as an ongoing process.

Well that was the other thing I was thinking about.  Hopefully if a port is left without a default theme, it would encourage people to work on it.  Right now the only people who know about this are the ones that regularly watch the forums, which can't be more then a small fraction of the people potentially interested.

--- Quote from: Llorean on December 08, 2007, 11:23:13 PM ---I wouldn't mind rolling it out a few at a time, and I wouldn't mind rolling it out before they're *all* finished, but my personal preference (bearing in mind I don't have any special say in this anyway) is that we at least wait until we have a majority of targets simply so that we can say "most" targets have the new default theme, and it's the exception that a target doesn't have it, rather than the exception that it does.

This seems reasonable.   I wouldn't want to release without the Video and Sansa supported at least, since that seems to be what most people ask about.

I like this idea, but I'd like to give the current effort a little more time.  Maybe we could do this if we haven't made progress on a default theme by the new year?

Maybe not as a final choice, but as an interim choice, its worlds better then the current default.

Llorean:
Sounds good. If more than 2/3 of targets have versions of Cabbie 2.0 that are "good enough to be considered usable" we start committing and pushing to encourage people to fill in the holes, otherwise we set iCatcher as the default (so we can work out any kinks in default theme functionality in general) and commit those Cabbie 2.0s that we do have, and then set it as default once the holes are all filled in, at that point?
