Check my previous post.

I need to learn how to read the first time... Thanks for the double tips...

iAudio X5 & iriver H10 20GB

It's in the wiki here:

A minor nitpick about the dark greyscale bars (now playing and the progress bar) - I would draw them the other way round (the black being in the lower part) as the highlight and shadow in the colour version. Currently it looks sunken and not popping out because our brain expects to see things as if they were lit from top. But all on all, it's developing nicely. :)

Well, my nano port is now finally 99.99% finished! Attached is a screenshot.
It uses 2 alternating sublines:

The first one after the current track, album, and artist displays the following:
Bitrate of current song, playlist postition (x of x) and file format (mp3, etc).

The second one for the next song info shows the following:
"Next Song:" (just to show what it's displaying), next track name, next artist name, next album name.

My only real worry for this is that since this is for the nano and most ipod users are oriented to this display order for the track:

Quote
Track Name
Artist Name
Album Name

Why don't we make it that way for the ipod versions of this theme?

And that leads me to to my next question: Is anyone making an ipod video version of this theme?

My nano version will be uploaded to the wiki as soon as its OKed by everyone and thoroughly bug checked.

I'm going to take a look at the WPS code for the H10 20GB and X5 version of this theme, for some reason the status icons don't seem to be registering properly.  Hopefully it's a simple fix and I can upload a working copy in a short while.  Also, does anyone mind if I re-upload it as a .zip instead of a .rar as it is currently?

EDIT:  I hope no one minds, but I'm also cleaning the WPS up a little more for the sake of readability, since it was very cluttered without any new lines when declaring the images to load. Never mind, apparently there are new lines, notepad couldn't see them but OpenOffice's Writer app could.

EDIT the 2nd:  Of course, the reason the images aren't registering is because they're off the screen!  Should hopefully have this cleaned up shortly!

EDIT the 3rd (and final):  The edits have been made, theme works properly now!

I should probably mention this again. You really can't see the difference between all of the repeat icons. New ones should be made or the existing ones made better. I already edited the A-B one and the 1 one. They are in a zip linked (for now) to rapidhare. The others need to be made better. Mine aren't very good either, they were a quick edit in paint. If anyone can fix this...

I've posted my attempt at a Cabbie 2.0 port for the iPod 1G2g greyscale here:http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsIriverH100#Cabbie_2_0

I'm not satisified with the icons, so if anyone wants to improve them, please do!

The conditions are still the same: It needs to be converted for all players.

Any reason we can't roll it out one resolution at a time?  I imagine this is going to take a few commits before we're  happy with how the default looks on each target, since most people only have a few players to test it on.  I imagine that as people start using it, we'll get a flood of comments about how it looks, glitches, etc.  Doing it all at once would be nice since we'd get it over with, but I think doing it one resolution at a time would be good too.

Well, I am practically done with my nano version, I will upload it tomorrow and everyone can compulsively bug check it (although I have already done that) and maybe then we can commit the nano version? I agree with saratoga, though, it should be one at a time.

I think though the problem with that could be that we start rolling it out with less than 2/3 or so of targets supported, and once again people porting it peters out.

I wouldn't mind rolling it out a few at a time, and I wouldn't mind rolling it out before they're *all* finished, but my personal preference (bearing in mind I don't have any special say in this anyway) is that we at least wait until we have a majority of targets simply so that we can say "most" targets have the new default theme, and it's the exception that a target doesn't have it, rather than the exception that it does.

Otherwise, we could just roll out iCatcher as a default for now, start importing this into SVN but not as a default, then if it does hit all targets, switch over?

No way! I say let's wait as we have waited long enough and a month or two won't make a lot of difference, would it? Besides that, I happen to dislike the iCatcher theme on my nano.

I'm almost done with my Gigabeat port, but I don't know what to do with all of the space left if there is no Album Art. Any suggestions?  ??? Anyways here is the finished screen shot showing with Album Art. By the way the Album Art can be 150x150 or smaller, and the next song is an alternating subline with Artist and Title.

I agree that iCatcher isn't a candidate (IMHO).

It's taken from April 20 2007 until now for a snowball effect to start. I say we wait it out a week or so to see who else contributes to the Cabbie 2.0 porting. It would be nice to see one of the families (iPod/Sansa/Gigabeat, etc) completely covered.

Then, if needed, a few diplomatically worded posts might provoke some Cabbie 2.0 porting effort for the targets not currently covered ("come on you XXX losers, all the Cabbie 2.0 ports for YYY have been completed ")   ;)

More seriously, I don't think it's necessary for a particular port to be 'perfect'. Once it gets imported into SVN, users can improve the port, much the same as other features are tweaked as an ongoing process.

Well that was the other thing I was thinking about.  Hopefully if a port is left without a default theme, it would encourage people to work on it.  Right now the only people who know about this are the ones that regularly watch the forums, which can't be more then a small fraction of the people potentially interested.

This seems reasonable.   I wouldn't want to release without the Video and Sansa supported at least, since that seems to be what most people ask about.

I like this idea, but I'd like to give the current effort a little more time.  Maybe we could do this if we haven't made progress on a default theme by the new year?

Maybe not as a final choice, but as an interim choice, its worlds better then the current default.

Sounds good. If more than 2/3 of targets have versions of Cabbie 2.0 that are "good enough to be considered usable" we start committing and pushing to encourage people to fill in the holes, otherwise we set iCatcher as the default (so we can work out any kinks in default theme functionality in general) and commit those Cabbie 2.0s that we do have, and then set it as default once the holes are all filled in, at that point?
