Difference between bass/treble and equalizer?

(1/1)

sunjammer:
I moved to a newer build of rockbox on my X5. Before this update I had "just" a equalizer in the sound settings. Now there are furthermore a bass and a treble setting.

What is the difference between the equalizer and the bass/treble option?
Is the bass/treble-option just a simpler alternative? Or are they handled differently (equalizer in software, bass/treble in hardware)?

^^That's the difference.

Llorean:
Actually, I believe on the X5 there's no hardware bass/treble, and it uses the new "software tone controls" (which is why they just showed up recently).

Because many of our devices to have actual Bass and Treble tone controls, software versions of them were added for the other players, because "Bass and Treble" is much easire for some people to use than a full equalizer.
