My experience with Rockbox (first hour)

Interesting... I was reading misticriver and someone posted yesterday that they were having the same problems with rockbox that I was with the battery drain.  They used firmware version 1.31K and said they're not having those problems anymore.

Is there possibly some problem with rockbox and 1.30E?

Llorean:
When you boot into Rockbox, on the H300 series no part of the original firmware ever gets run, so problems like you experience (extremely short runtimes in Rockbox) shouldn't be able to happen because of the original firmware (to my limited knowledge at least, which I'll admit in this area is fairly minimal: I'm making an assumption here and that's never safe in the long run, the assumption being that the original firmware can't leave something that gets in the way after a power cycle)

djrichwoods:
I've seen several comments on these boards that the Korean versions are the best to use with Rockbox...

I was extremely disappointed that Rockbox seemed to not want to play nice on my machine, so if there's something I did wrong or can do I want to correct that and use Rockbox...

So it wouldn't hurt to try the 1.31K right?  Or even an older Korean version...

Llorean:
Usually people prefer the Korean version because it offers the Video functionality, without othe restrictions. But yes, it shouldn't hurt to try it.

Sorry to dig up this old thread...

It was the battery in the end... the player started dying quickly even after I removed Rockbox... ordered one from ipods99, watched the ravel's bolero video and replaced the battery easily.

I also found a loose motherboard screw floating around the player as well.

Thanks.  Got rockbox back on it with no problems.  Can't wait to record my next live DJ set with it.

:)
