A mistake that could lead to failed installation
polo4455:
I made a mistake while following the installation instructions and would like to share it with the community so that others avoid it.
I downloaded the zipped firmware on my desktop. I unzipped it on my desktop using Winrar and then copy/pasted it on the root directory of my Toshiba F40. This returned a "failure to find the file" message.
The mistake was that Winrar, while unzipping, creates a "parent" folder whithin which the original file resides. One has to open this "parent" folder and copy/paste the original folder (I think it is called ".rockbox")..
Thank god there is a Safe Mode and an option to restore the original kernel. Much appreciated  :)
Mad Cow:
There's a much easier way to do that, you just unzip the files to the root of your player. You don't need to unzip/copy.

That's right. Old habbits that refuse to go away :)

So this post summarizes to "Your installation can fail if you don't follow the instructions as they're written in the manual."
polo4455:
Some (like me) would think that unzipping directly or indirectly (via desktop) would be harmless. Hence my post. Are you intolerant to these sort of mistakes?
