BUG? Recording settings not saved when idle-poweroff
« on: December 18, 2006, 04:21:40 PM »
Hi,
Did anybody else notice that the recording settings are not stored when the machine shuts down after being idle for a while?

I recorded an hour long session, only to discover that it wasn't recording MP3 from the Mic, but Wave from the Line-In - which was the settings before I changed them and let the machine power down by itself.
(it obviously didn't record anything but quiet).
This happened more than once.

I didn't try to change any other setting, so I speculate this might be a problem with every other RB setting also...

I have noticed that if the player is paused and idle power off shuts it down, then resume information is not saved (H140) and on turning on and resuming, it is from a previous position.  I agree it is slightly annoying, but so far I haven't got around to either check existing bug reports or file a new one (it obviously hasn't bothered me that much then!)

I noticed problems with settings being saved in general on my H120. Sometimes after powering off I everything is reset to the previous config. Doesn't seem limited to recording and the H140 is certainly related to the H120. Recording saves settings the same way everything else does so can't see how it could only be that other than recording settings are probably changed more often than most others.

I've had settings loss on my H140 as well.
The temporary fix is

1  set your savings as you like them
2  write a cfg file, say "config01.cfg"
3  delete the "config.cfg" file
4  rename "config01.cfg" to "config.cfg"
5  reboot the player

I don't know what causes the config file corruption though...

I thought this bug was fixed, so why post a workaround?

I just tried and my settings were saved...
You do have to leave the rec screen because idle-poweroff doesn't kick in when in pre-recording or pause

If you have this issue, please add it to the bug tracker along with details on how to reproduce
