melted jukebox..........anyone?
« on: June 16, 2006, 07:27:58 AM »
well ive been using rockbox and jukebox for a pretty long time.
I know my Jukebox Studio 10 is def out of warrenty.
but i left my mp3 player charging and i went out and when i came back i found my jukebox to be partially melted and really freakin hot.

i dont really mind that its totally [please don't use gratuitous profanity]. but i had some very important pictures from my holidays here in europe. does anyone know if there is the chance of getting pictures off a harddrive that has been freakishly over charged.

Well, just open it and hook up the Hard Drive directly to your PC. There are "IDE to USB" Adapter Cables available, should be around 5 Bucks at eBay.

about that, what about the iPod harddrive, it has a completely different connection, i saw a site that said that a iPod HDD to IDE cable did exist, and for extra money, you could get a USB enclosure.

Keep in mind that the Jukeboxes use a 2.5 hard drive.  This requires a slightly different connection than a typical IDE connector.

But, yes, assuming that your hard drive is still functioning (and this method is cheap enough that you should care *too* much about wasted money), this would be the best way of getting the info off of it.
