iriver H10-20GC
« on: April 20, 2008, 05:41:20 PM »
Hi everyone. I'm new to the iriver and rockbox thing, but it looks fun to play with. I recently found a irver H10- 20GC with the usb cable, apparently thats the only way to charge this thing. When I plug it in to the PC, it comes up as H10 (L). and is empty drive. If I boot it UMS trick, it says system files missing connect to H10 recovery tool which is no help at all. If someone can lead me in the right direction as far as getting this thing working, I think I can handle loading the rockbox. Thanks for your time.

As I own one of these and have had lots of fun with it, I can give you a hand.

First, you'll need to do to replace the missing OF files. Download the iriver MTP updater from here.  Connect your H10 in UMS mode by holding the select (O) button down with the USB cable plugged in while powering the device on, then run the application found in that .zip file and tell it where you got your device from, and follow the on-screen instructions to restore it.

Second, once the device had been restored to working order, reset it by using a thin pointed object to press the reset button in the little hole at the top, then reconnect it in UMS mode again.  There are two ways of getting Rockbox installed on your device, I myself prefer the manual way, however, it's easier to use RBUtil.  Download that application and run it.  You may need to tell it which drive if your H10 if it can't detect it automatically.  The interface -should- be easy enough to follow, however, as I don't use it myself, I can't tell you exactly what to do.

I hope this helps!

Hope it works out for you!

Don't forget to check out the WPS Gallery for the H10 20GB (and the iAudio X5, as they use the same screen size).  There are more themes there than on the rockbox-themes site the RB Utility uses for the themes, and more of them will be up to date to the current Rockbox builds.

All worked fine. Thanks. I'm seeing some versions of the iriver that can be used as a hard drive for the psp systems. Did I read that wrong  or is that actually possible?

That doesn't really have anything to do with Rockbox...

As Llorean said, that's not really a Rockbox issue...  I would recommend checking Google...

does anyone have the original bootloader for iriver h10 20gb?

iriver h10 20gb player "system files missing"

through the RB forums and the RB instructions say that the original bootloader is needed to load the rockbox bootloader.

i have used both the manual and automatic installer to try to install rock box with no success.

i think i f can find the original firmware and bootloader i can solve this problem.

all the links associated  with this forum are broken

i don't believe the hd is broken because i can still  use it as a drive
