H10 5GB UMS shutdown problems
« on: December 25, 2007, 02:56:11 AM »
I recently got an iRiver h10 and am having trouble using rockbox on it.

The OF works with no troubles at all, but whenever I boot rockbox, then it automatically shows the "Shutting down..." message after perhaps 5 seconds and doesn't recognise any keypresses prior to showing said message.
If I connect the AC adapter then I get a "Battery EMPTY! Please recharge" message (from rockbox).

I've tried clearing the settings, which hasn't had any effect and the bootloader and build are the most recent (at time of post) as I used Rockbox Utility to install.

I'd be tempted to claim it's a hardware issue as it's obvious this unit has seen better days, but as the OF is working, I'm not sure.

Can anyone shed some insight on this?

Hey evilnick, Merry Xmas!

Which H10 did you get? Is it the 5/6GB model, or the 20GB model?

Hey Lamdba, merry christmas right back at ya!

I got a very battered 5GB red H10 that has been dropped from a moving (push)bike a fair few times hence me thinking that it might be hardware issues but as the OF works without an issue then I'm baffled.

Meh, even if I can't get it working, it's an extra unit for the next Tower, I guess.

Maybe after New Year's, we can call Davide back out and go for a pint or two somewhere, and I'll take a look at your H10 for you. Sounds like the battery and/or hard drive are toast.

Let me know if you're interested in another meetup.

Sounds like a good plan. I'm always up for a few drinks!

I'm not massively bothered about getting this working. It'd be nice, but as I've already got a few rockboxed players it's more of a completist thing since I knew I could get it for nowt.
