4GB Sansa Clip+ : RB r25404 : 8GB uSD

I've been using r25404 for few days now with no major headaches (tried r25416 but no RB boot after several attempts; rebooted OF and downgraded RB back to r25404).

Got around no disk write by writing my own config.cfg file then manually saving it via the PC into the root of RB.

So far no disk write has not really been a bummer even though I can't save the bagillion dollars I won playing the blackjack game.  Sometimes hit and miss with the apps and games-- meaning the occasional error message and reboot.  No biggy because my little clip+ is so much more useful.

Thank you to all the developers.

-ps I must admit that I am eagerly awaiting the disk write breakthrough because keeping a Last.fm log would be the bees knees :).

Fuze V2:

Been bug-hunting.  Almost everything works.  Everything I've found that DOESN'T work seems to be directly related to the read-only thing.  The only crash I've had so far was with a bad mp3 that also killed Winamp on my PC.  I haven't got too much time on my hands, but I'll keep playing with it.

Feel free to tell me to RTFM, but I have a couple of questions:

-Has anyone done temporary workarounds in the past for read-only-mode use?  I can't confess to knowing much of Rockbox's guts yet, but could we generate the database, for example, on our computers instead?

-Do we have a standard list of test files for each of the file types Rockbox plays?  I mean, I have loads of mp3's, but I may not have them in a wide variety of bitrates for example.  I certainly don't have every one of the less-common file types.

Just to remind you this is not a support thread.

  • Don't ask questions about how to install rockbox here
  • Don't ask feature requests
  • Don't ask time estimations
  • Don't ask what you can do to help with testing, read the last pages of the thread where it is already explained (no need to read the 100 pages, the last 3 pages are usually enough).

If there's nothing written about testing needed, then there's no testing needed.

Some of these items are already explained in the rules of this forum, please read them.

What you can do to help if you're not a developer:
  • Read the dedicated wiki page, edit it (it's a wiki) if you are comfortable with english (I am not a native speaker so when I edit it I can write weird sentences).
  • Update your build regularly and report features which were rock-solid in a previous build, and stopped working in the last current build.
When you make a report please give the revision which stopped working and the most recent version possible which didn't have the bug.
If you just started using the unstable rockbox build, it's probably better to wait a few days to see which features work and which are unstable.

If you don't respect those rules your posts will be deleted.

Flash memory and RAM chips are interchangeable, so often different models can be used.  The model number on the AMS 3525 is a bit different, not sure what that means.

Does rockbox run normally on your player?

The rockbox does not operate normally in the player only the buttons were lit but soon extinguished, and if he turns up the volume again after 10 seconds and goes out again nothing appears on the display turns black

You could do both, but just rockbox should be enough to see if it works.

Here are instructions for building from source if you are on Windows:
http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SimpleGuideToCompiling

You will have to set up a build environment in either Cygwin, VMWare (or other virtual machine), or CoLinux.

4GB Sansa Clip+ : RB r25464 : 8GB uSD

I just installed r25464 and I'm getting a lot more stable behavior since attempting changing my functioning player
Quote
I've been using r25404 for few days now with no major headaches (tried r25416 but no RB boot after several attempts; rebooted OF and downgraded RB back to r25404).

And everything seems to be functioning normally; The apps and games that are available in the clip+ distro function as expected, I can load a preset file into the fm and scan through my local stations, but I'm having problems with music playback detailed as follows:

*PANIC*
wait for TRAN state
   failed (STBY)  1

The above error message is what the player displays sporadically while playing music (mostly mp3 (V0) and FLAC), but more often and nearly always after skipping tracks.
