Hi,
I have wasted many hours now, I would say I have formatted the HDD 4 times and downloaded the boot loader at least 4 times along with the latest build and I still get error -2, initially it was freezing on the yellow RockBox boot screen but now error -2. I have given up with it and use the HDD in a cradle the kids use it to tranfer files around.. Anyone want a Gigabeat?

You may need to use fdisk to restore the partition table, then use
dd to restore the MBR and boot records.
I copied these two records off my working F40 and can email them to you.
There is a windows version of dd (google for it) and windows has something
similar to fdisk (disk manager I think).

Don't forget - when changing the bootloader on the Gigabeat (like trying to put the new one on there that Markun has suggested) - you NEED to flick the battery switch to off, and then back on again to make the change happen.

Excellent!! I downloaded the bootloader and unzipped it directly to the Gigabeat and it booted up with the menus and is working excellently.. Loaded a theme and it is all go.
I guess the boot loader was corrupt. I was unzipping the files to my computer hard drive and copying them to the Gigabeat drive.. It only worked for me when I unzipped the files directly to the gigabeat.  Thanks for all of the assistance, this has really made the gigabeat user friendly.. Cheers..
