Title: Ipod usb interface
Post by: ezzieyguywuf on July 27, 2015, 12:24:53 PM
My car has a usb port. When I connect my iphone, I am able to olay/pause/skip using the controls on my head unit. Also, my head unit shows artist/album/track info. Is it possible to use the info compiled herehttp://m.instructables.com/id/iPod-Information-Screen-Rev-2/?ALLSTEPS (http://m.instructables.com/id/iPod-Information-Screen-Rev-2/?ALLSTEPS) to build a similar feature in to rockbox?

Thats a document showing how to interface a screen to the serial (not USB) port on the iPod.  If your car had a serial rather than USB interface, you could do that, and we have quite a lot of support already implemented for serial accessories.  I don't know how many stereos still use the serial port though.  Apple depreciated it a long time ago in favor of the USB interface, which is encrypted in order to prevent unauthorized accessories.
