Title: Audible sound format
Post by: steve-lainen on January 30, 2006, 05:07:20 PM
The original Apple firmware supports the playback of the Audible sound format for audio books. Will it be possible to support this codec via Rockbox??? (technically I doubt there will be a problem, but legally I am not so sure).

Regards,
Peter

Audible audiobooks are in a variety of codecs, depending on which quality you download at.
For example, the highest one is actually a very low bitrate mono MP3. The problem is that they're also DRM wrapped, so it's highly unlikely it will ever be officially, or even unofficially supported.

Installation of Rockbox does not in any way affect the retail OS's ability to play these files, though.
