Title: iPod mini: charging and connecting via firewire ...
Post by: wallakoala on August 23, 2006, 02:33:58 PM
So I just installed rockbox onto my ipod mini 1g and it works great. The only thing I am concerned about is charging the thing/transferring files. Do I have to load up the apple firmware to charge it and transfer files? Because when I plug the ipod into my computer via firewire, the player does not appear to charge and it does not mount. I have tried turning the player off and plugging it in, but nothing happens. Isn't it supposed to boot into disk mode? Now I have to boot into the apple firmware whenever I want to charge and transfer files. Is there any other way?

Rockbox has no support for firewire at all yet, so to copy files over you'll have to manually reboot into Disk Mode or Apple for the moment.

Does the lack of firewire support include charging as well?

I'm not certain, but I *think* it will charge from firewire.

I also wondering if so, how many mA does it use to charge on top of what it uses it power itself? Anyone have data as to such?
