Title: H120 Line and ext mic settings
Post by: Datman on September 25, 2006, 04:17:43 AM
Could be useful to have independent settings for line and ext mic, so that the last gain / AGC settings are recalled for each one?

this is already so for recording gain, not (yet) for the AGC setting...

I don't think he's talking about mic and line here! notice he says external... :-\

That's right.

woops...

but rockbox doesn't have a setting to indicate line-in or external mic. So what you're asking is profiles? You can do that with cfg files!

rrrright... ;)

Well, you can put cfg files in the root (or elsewhere), each with different AGC/gain/... settings and you can call those files EXT-MIC.cfg and LINE-IN.cfg

Sorry, I was asking if you think it could be useful to add "ext mic" between the rec sources: Mic, EXT MIC, Line In, Digital, FM Radio as another virtual input.

Then people would once again think there's actually a difference between "Line In" and "Mic" which is misleading. Is it really that terribly hard to just load a config file with your preferred Mic or Line In settings before going into the recording screen? If you stored it in the root (or your recording folder, or whatever) you just need to click on it once, before going.

Changing the setting to "Line-in/Ext. Mic" rather than simply "Line In" would probably eliminate most of the confusion.
