Following all the steps from the official tutorial.
When i have to search my ipod with the commande "ipodpatcher 1,2,3,4,etc..."
i get the message :
the same thing (Error reading from disk : parametres incorrect) when i use "ipodpatcher -r 5 bootloadernano.bin"
I don't want to continue before some advices, please help me :/

The iPod 2G is NOT SUPPORTED YET. That's why there's no build to download for it.
This is why the Introduction of the web based installation guide does not list it in the supported players.

Does a compatible version will be release soon ? ???
PS : Thanks for the reply Llorean

The 2G iPod Nano has very different hardware. It may be quite some time before a compatible version is available.

While the wiki is quite explicit on the whole 1st gen/2nd gen Nano issue, neither the download page, nor the manual are nearly so.

How can we help on getting Rockbox on the 2G Nano? Is there something we can do - beside of ripping the iPod apart? ;) P.ex.: I have VERY limited knowledge of C - and if I say "VERY limited", I mean it :D

We need someone with cryptography experience (or a very good understanding of ARM assembly) to crack the encryption used in the Apple firmware. Then interested developers could start reverse engineering work by looking at Apple's firmware. Until someone does this, its unlikely that any progress will be made.
Theres no need for anyone to open up their ipod, that wouldn't tell you much of anything useful at this point.

There is actually.
You could sneak into Apple headquarters and steal all relevant data. Or if possible, steal someone with intimate knowledge and coerce him into doing what we want.
;)
Honestly, if you aren't a coder or someone with an intimate knowledge of these things or the motivation to become either, there is nothing you can do.

>>saratoga: is there a way you can upload the firmware from the nano 2g?
i have some experience with ARM assembly and cryptography, and might be able to help alle the developers here, with bringing rockobox to the 2g nano :)

In that case I'd post in the "New Ports" thread for the 2g - rather than in the Apple Install forum - which is the wrong place.
