Title: Should the following Plugins have menus?
Post by: Thecoolgman on June 19, 2009, 11:43:50 PM
I was wondering why don't the following plugins (Games) Have menus with more options?
The Plugins I'm talking about are:

FlipIt
Invadrox
Maze
Pong
RockBlox
Sliding Puzzle
Snake2 (I know how to set up the game but a menu would seem more appropriate to me)
SpaceRocks

These plugins seem nice enough to have their own menu so why don't they?

I'm going to venture a guess and say the reason those plugins don't have menus is because no one has done the (completely voluntary) work of coding them. It's not a matter of them being "nice enough" or not...coders have just directed their focus toward other contributions they're more interested in.

A lot of them don't really have many potential options you'd put in a menu, anyway.

What about High Score borads? Or a 1 Player option for pong?

Seriously, if you think they should have options, you're going to have to list out what you think they should be.

On Most of them I would just see a highscore borad, Playback Control, and save on some.  Pong I think should have a 2 or 1 Player (vs. ai) option, Sliding Puzzle (If possible) should have a "Use custom image" option. I know that you can do this through it's viewer but I think it would be more user friendly with that option. Snake2 should have "Game" choose game A or B, Maze, and Speed. Freeing up controls. I mean just look at MazezaM it just has quit and play game.

Those all seem fairly reasonable ideas. However, your next problem is going to be that most new Rockbox features are written by those that want them. That means if you really want to see these things, you're going to have to start submitting some patches.
