Title: iPod Video white display after display standby
Post by: JannF on November 18, 2017, 09:38:38 AM
Hello,
I'm rather a rockbox newbie and just installed the latest stable rockbox onto my freshly iPod Video.
The only issue I have is, that if the LCD goes into standby, it won't come up again correctly.
It will be white with flickering lines.

The issue is reproducible and won't occur if I turn off LCD standby in settings as workaround.

EDIT: a serial lookup showed that it's a 5th gen, not a 5.5th gen.
Also it's a 30GB model.

Does it happen with the Apple firmware?

No, I tried provoking it, but it comes back on again normally every time.

The screen mess up also happened one time without the LCD Standby/Turn off when I was using rockbox with games and tried some demos.

Is there any extra debug information I can gather for you?

So on my secon iPod Video 5.5 80GB Rockbox runs fine.
I ordered a new LCD now to test if it's the LCD.

Is it not the case that rockbox doesn't use 'standby' it just turns itself off?  Therefore perhaps it doesn't happen with OF because it happens only when actually turned on, and unless you leave the OF unused for a long time (don't know how long) it won't turn off (it just goes into standby) so you won't reproduce the situation of turning it on.  So possibly it's a hardware fault that only occurs when ipod turns on?
