Title: Rockbox Utility can't find Sansa
Post by: bennetron on April 16, 2008, 09:20:49 AM
Hi...

I used the Rockbox Utility to succesfully update my E280 (v1) a couple of months ago...  But now, when I try to use it to update (both full or partial installations), the Utility gives me a "Sansa Not Found" error.  The utility still lists the "Selected Device: Sandisk Sansa E280 at H:/" and the E280r still boots (and is recognized by Windows XP) at H: on my computer...
Any ideas?  (I've tried using different USB ports as well, but the same result)

thanks!
B

You can always just manually update.

Sure, as Rockbox Utility saves the selected player in its configuration. Bootloader installation verifies the player the same way as autodetection does -- so to make sure your configuration is correct you can simply use the autodetection function. I'm still wondering why detection shouldn't work -- do you have the required (i.e. administrator) permissions?

Besides, the "Quick Installation" tab is for installation -- it will also install the bootloader. If you simply want to update Rockbox itself use the "manual installation" tab. As this only writes data to the player (and doesn't install the bootloader) you also don't need admin permissions to use this.
