ok I have a 4gen grayscale ipod and I was listining to it yesterday and then I turned it off. Now when I turn it on either a sad face comes up a half charging screen or a folder with an excalmation point. disk mode wont work it only worked once last night is there any way to fix this??????
-
It sounds to me like one of two things:
1) You need to let the battery charge up, or
2) You have a dying hard drive; my 4G iPod color has a bad drive as well and doesn't spin up occasionally, giving me a "sad iPod" when it fails to spin up.
-
so is my ipod completely bricked?
-
It's not bricked. As Calculus said, your hard drive is probably dying. If that's the case, I believe it is possible to order a new HDD and manually replace the bad one.

Oh well about two secdonds ago my ipod went into disk mode but before i could open itunes it reset itself

Is there an ipod in stores right now that will work with rockbox?
-
None of the models currently in production work with rockbox, but I suppose you might get lucky nd find an old model.
Please use the modify button if no-one has posted since you, rather than double posting.

well my grandma came over and gave me a sansa clip is there any hacks for that?
-
The Sansa Clip does not run Rockbox, if that's what you are trying to ask.
Since this thread no longer has anything to do with disk mode on an iPod, I'm going to close it.
