Title: nano 2g display corrupted
Post by: Adub on January 27, 2011, 12:24:29 AM
I hope this is the right place to post this as i have been up and down the forums looking for a better place to no avail.

I have a nano 2g rockboxed using the latest RockboxUtility i installed rockbox again after not using the player for some time and when booting into rockbox i get this screen.

I have tried formating the device and reinstalling both the bootloader and the firmware multiple times with no success. I used to run rockbox with no problems and currently the OF works fine when i boot into it.

I can't seem to find this issue searching google and i am looking for guidance here as a last ditch effort before just giving the player away.

Thanks for any help.

There were quite some changes for the nano 2g LCD driver in december (r28794 - r28868). Which version worked for you? And with which version do you have the problems?

Edit: Can you also please check which lcd_type your nano 2g uses? This can be gathered from the debug hw info screen. You should either see "LCD: (7) LDS176" or "LCD: (2) ILI9320".

Edit2: Which WPS do you use? If it is not cabbie v2 can you please try again with this?

To clarify, you'll need to roll back to a build that works in order to gain the information needed from the debug menu. We know it won't be possible to gather it with the screen in this state. ;)

You can also gather this information from diagmode (hold left+select while powering on), in the "Others" => "Status" menu on the second page. (LCD_DETECT0 and LCD_DETECT1)

Ok i rolled back to what i was using before which was a build from March (lol) r25375-100328, so it boots fine now, also using cabbiev2.

From diagmode it shows:
LCD Detect0:1
LCD Detect1:0

Also in hardware debug:
LCD:
type: 1, (7) LDS176

So, LDS176, which is good. The performance optimizations were thoroughly tested on LDS176 type LCDs. This of course does not mean those optimizations could not be the root cause...

Can you please install a v3.7 build and report back how this behaves? v3.7 was released in Oct and is also available for nano 2g. We can narrow it down by a few months then.

Important question: Are you able to build rockbox on your own?

Edit: I have added a bug tracker entry (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/11911 (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/11911)). We should further use this to proceed.
