Title: WHAT IS ROCK BOX?????????

ive asked on woot.com and got no answers...just give me a quick run down on what it can do..cause i just bought a sansae280 V1 8g from woot...and i have no idea how to load video's onto the player..i have a TV show i want to load onto it..and its .AVI format..what will rockbox do to me player..will it make it easier to load unload vids..without converting

First off, a bit of reading is in order:

Also, the manual will help you out with those "how to" questions.

There is no such thing as a ".AVI format".  AVI is just a container and isn't really indicative of the video format inside.  you cna see the PluginMpegplayer wiki page for more info and how to format the video properly.

Just a little bonus info for you: It is true that avi is just a container, as for the format what you most likely have is divx or xvid.
