Title: when i plug any kind of usb cable in without pressing a button i get usb mode
Post by: robgsr on July 08, 2012, 12:35:57 PM
Hi, apologies if this has been answered. I have had a thorough search and could find nothing conclusive.

I am running 644b83e-120701 on my 80gb ipod classic/6g.

All usb cables, even a simple ac-dc charger combination with no bells or whistles, put me into usb (master/slave?) mode.

This causes the most concern for in-car use. I leave my ipod plugged into the dock connector on my griffin itrip device at all times; when I turn the ignition on without holding an ipod button I find that the current playing song stops, and I can't get back to rockbox os until I remove the usb and reinsert it while holding a button.

I noticed various patches have been made, even going so far back as 6 years. But as my device is on the unstable list I don't know what I need to do in order to compile the source to make it work on my 6g after applying aforementioned patch.

Am I missing something obvious? My desire is to reverse the behaviour, so that if I insert a usb cable without pressing buttons, I get charge. And conversely if I press a button while inserting, I get file transfer mode. A behaviour which I feel would be better across the board.

Any ideas at all?

Sounds like the issue in FS#12522.
