Title: mac osx with ipod 5.5 w/ sdxc
Post by: scodiz on November 27, 2016, 04:54:06 PM
Hey!

I have a few questions regarding the install.  I'm using macOS Sierra, and don't have easy access to a windows machine running iTunes.  I've updated an iPod Video (5.5 30GB) with a new iFlash-dual w/ one 500mb sdxc card.  After the new hardward, iTunes installed with no problems on the device, and works well.  I'd like to install Rockbox tho!!  I understand that the ssd needs to be FAT32 for installation.  Can I avoid the "conversion step" (linked below) and use mac disk utilities to format the flash card?  ie..  remove the sd card from the device and insert it into the macbook and format?  Then run the Rockbox install after reinstalling the SD card back into the ipod.  Also...  would I need to format to ExFAT so that I can then access the ipod with a mac in order to transfer files?

Thnaks for any input/ help!!

First exfat is not supported, only fat32.

Second, I haven't tried this but as far as I know just formatting the card fat32 won't work. You need to set the correct partition table as described in that link.
