Title: Enabling equalizer generates white noise
Post by: z0rk on September 02, 2019, 06:03:56 PM
Hiya: I am running v3.14 on a Sansa Clip+. When I open an EQ preset by DiscoProJoe’s, for example, I instantly get white noise. When I create my own preset manually, save it open it, I get the same behavior so I know it's not a particular preset itself.

I saw another thread here that also reports the same behavior but it refers to an old version of Rockbox (v.3.9). The issue was resolved for the poster by updating to a nightly build (see http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,29480.msg186837.html#msg186837)

The preset I created manually uses the settings posted here (see http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=9468.0).

Thanks

Post your settings file from the .rockbox folder

Did you edit that file manually?  eq peak filter 4 and 5 look to have bad values (negative Q factor).  If you put those back to positive, does it work?

Hey, thanks. That put me on the right track. I've modified the config.cfg as you suggested but found that my changes reverted back to the negative value until I realized that I had to modify the EQ config as well. This leads me to wonder how do I reset the EQ back to default, the unmodified settings when you enable EQ but haven't made any changes?

Thanks
